UBER Inspection vs Normal Roadworthy

08/31/2020

We can't read minds, unfortunately, but we'll give you the next best thing: a list of three of the most commonly asked questions about an Uber Inspection vs. a Roadworthy Inspection.

UBER Inspection vs Normal Roadworthy

Question:

I am not sure if I wish to use my car for UBER ride-share purposes. In this case, what sort of a certificate should I get?

Answer:

You should get an UBER certificate only - you are able to register your vehicle with this certificate even if you don't want to use it as an UBER ride-share vehicle just yet.  Although your vehicle will be registered as suitable for UBER  ride-share, you do not need to use it for that purpose. Your safety certificate expires after 1 year after which you need a new safety inspection in the case that you would like to re-register your car for UBER or a similar ride-sharing company and also if you want to put it on the market for sale. Otherwise you do not need to get a fresh one.

Question:

“I would like to book a RWC and an UBER inspection for the same car.  Do I need both?”

Answer:

You only need an UBER inspection and you are covered.

Question:

What is the difference between an UBER certificate and a normal RWC certificate?

Answer:

An UBER inspection is almost the same as a normal RWC inspection except an UBER ride-sharing inspection also consists of an examination with an electronic brake tester and that result needs to be submitted to the government.  The price of the inspections are also the same. Both types of inspections are carried out very conveniently in your home or office and you get an electronic certificate sent to your email address.
